Nati is born in Israel has lived there for more then twenty years. For six years now, he has been living in the Netherlands. His love for his birth country still is there and especially the culinary aspects are very important to him. That’s because Israeli people grew up with the Jewish religion, that states that you can only consume kosher products.

Is red wine kosher?

Yes, Israeli red wine is kosher. But what does it mean? If something is kosher, then this defines whether the product is safe to eat according to the guidelines of the Torah. For example, only land animals that chew their cud and have cloven hooves are permitted being eaten. A pig does have cloven hooves but does not chew their cud, that’s why Jewish people are not allowed to eat pig.

Like this, there are many other rules to speficy which product is safe (kosher) or not safe (terefah) to consume. If any ingredient of a products comes from a terefah product, the product is not kosher and thus not allowed to be eaten.
